I began this series shortly after I had spent a year in New Jersey helping my sister care for my mother who has Alzheimer’s disease. When mom got sick, I made a conscious decision not to photograph her. But, caring for her had a profound impact on me and I knew the experience would influence my photography. ...

About Me

My Name Is Shikhei Goh. I was born in Dabo Singkep (Riau Islands) and now I live in Batam Island, an industrial island about 45 minutes by boat from singapore. I started taking pictures using a DSLR in March 2011. I had tried taking pictures of many things but I really have a great passion for Macro photography and I can say I am a macro addict.
I have always said to myself that I must and I can make great photos. After countless of trials and errors, explorations, and criticisms I can say that I am happy enough for what I have achieved now. However, I will keep on exploring as there are always new things in macro photography.

“A very delicate person, beneath the flamboyance”. Jasper, Ladbroke Grove, 1977. “In the 1970s, Australia was rather cut off. I’d always wanted to live abroad, so I moved to Rome and then London. I was an art historian, but started studying photography part-time. I was interested in the demi-monde culture and began mixing in all sorts of circles. Jasper was a rather wonderful character. He was from Sydney, but he was living downstairs from me in Ladbroke Grove, in a flat rented to some gay friends. It was fairly eclectic. Jasper was always playing around with clothes and makeup. If he was looking particularly wonderful, I might get out my lights and take a shot. Or he might put makeup on me. He wasn’t always in drag, but he was permanently in diva mode, dependably louche, funny and naughty. I think all that comes across in the image. He was actually a very delicate person, though, beneath the wit and flamboyance. Jasper floated through London all too briefly. His real name was Peter MacMahon, but to us he was only ever Jasper Havoc, an alter ego he’d created while part of a transvestite troupe called Sylvia and the Synthetics. They were legendary in Sydney gay culture. On this day, we’d been taking some pictures inside and had gone out into the streets to fool around some more. Jasper was wearing a corset and fishnets ensemble, with other bits and pieces, and we joked about him being trashy as he lay in the skip. We just took the shot for ourselves. It wasn’t done with any publication in mind, or anything else. This was way before the internet and people didn’t share images. If you dressed up, it was just for that moment”. “The 53rd Annual TV WEEK Logie Awards is an upcoming event to be held on Sunday 1 May 2011 at the Crown Entertainment Complex in Melbourne, and will once again be televised on the Nine Network. Sad Abandon Village: Doel, Belgium
Abandon Village: Doel, Belgium

Doel is a 700 year old village on the river Scheldt in Belgium. Near to the local nuclear power plant, with its two giant cooling towers, it became the target for demolition not once but twice in order to make way for the ever expanding harbor. The successful protest groups of the seventies could not compete in the 90's and as residents began to leave, the government refused to rent out the properties again and instead let them fall into disrepair. On the 23rd of March 2007, the government decided that the village would be demolished by 2009 and in June 2008, residents received a letter informing them that they were to vacate their homes by the 1st of September 2009.

Educative Victoria Amazonica
Victoria amazonica

The species has very large leaves, up to 3 m in diameter, that float on the water's surface on a submerged stalk, 7–8 m in length. The species was once called Victoria regia after Queen Victoria, but the name was superseded. V. amazonica is native to the shallow waters of the Amazon River basin, such as oxbow lakes and bayous. It is depicted in the Guyanese coat of arms. The flowers are white the first night they are open and become pink the second night. They are up to 40 cm in diameter, and are pollinated by beetles.
