The Vietnam Slide Project was created by photo editor Kendra Rennick, who began collecting photo slides after a close friend lost her father, a Vietnam veteran. Her friend found a box of slides that her father had taken while in Vietnam and from there Rennick has continued to collect photographs that Vietnam veterans took during their tours of duty. American artist Robert Wechsler has realized a series of sculptural cubes made from thousands of pennies titled “The Mendicant“. Cubes achieved by notching and joining pennies in perfect orientation to one another. Joined at perpendicular angles, the coins create a lattice structure allowing tunnel like passages of light from certain angles. As one moves around them, the cubes seem to fluctuate from material to ethereal. The number of pennies increases exponentially with the size of the cube. Pictured here are three cubes differentiated with subtitles indicating the exact quantity used.

Have you ever heard of a phenomenon called the Uncanny Valley? Illustrations created by Swiss illustrator Christo Dagorov show how horrible something may look when it’s a hair’s breadth away from looking human. In his illustrations he combined the shape of human lips with trees, buildings, and even human bodies, making it look from a distance as if the lips were horribly deformed by some unknown disease. The ingenuity of people is endless. Could you imagine that broken pieces of maple wood could be used to create beautiful jewelry? Well Marcel Dunger has done just that! By using colored bio-resin and broken bits of wood, he was able to create marvelous pieces of jewelry. The result has a very futuristic feel to it. The angular form and strict design make this jewelry seem as if it was taken from a sci-fi movie. People often consider the most bizarre things to be art. A photographer has taken an explosive set of images by igniting gasoline in midair. Rob Prideaux, 45, photographs fire and smoke and then creates patterns from it. The San Francisco-based artist captures the fire in the split second its visible by using highly arcane methods.
