Central Bangkok and the Chao Phraya River are seen from an abandoned skyscraper in Bangkok April 19, 2015. The abandoned building, known as Satorn Unique, dubbed the “ghost tower” was destined to become one of Bangkok's most luxurious residential addresses but construction was never completed as the Thai economy was hit during the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis. Now, many travellers visit and explore 49-storey skyscraper. (Photo by Athit Perawongmetha/Reuters)

A morning rush-hour bomb killed at least 35 people at a Nigerian bus station near the capital on Monday, raising concerns about the spread of an Islamist insurgency after the first such attack on Abuja for two years. Suspicion fell on Boko Haram, though there was no immediate claim of responsibility from the Islamist group mainly active in the northeast. Five hours after the blast, officials had given no death toll. Reuters journalists counted at least 35 bodies. (Photo by Afolabi Sotunde/Reuters)

Somali women sing as they celebrate the election of President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed in the streets of Somalia's capital Mogadishu, February 9, 2017. This election is important because it may establish a pattern of peaceful change of government as well as continue to grow Somalia’s institutions especially for a country that has not heard a stable government for more than two decades.
