“Hikers, Skogar to Thorsmork trail, Iceland”. Every summer solstice, locals in Iceland hike the Skogar to Thorsmork trail. Taking nearly 8 hours to complete, you can approach Thorsmork right as the sun starts to “rise” again. A few fellow hikers up ahead navigate the steep terrain. Photo location: Thorsmork, Iceland. “The Struggle To Survive”. This little plant was struggling to survive in an extremely inhabitable place, an abandoned train yard depot. It's surround by 30 year of rust, decay and toxins, no direct sunlight, very little water and no soil. All the things we are told plants need to survive. Yet this little plant has still risen up and even seems to Glow! Photo location: Abandoned Santa Fe Train Yard, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. “Lonely Balloon”. We went to Cappadocia for the wonderful balloon trip on the land of beautiful horses. However, we didn't have a chance to enjoy ourselves on the balloon after 3 days waiting there due to the windy and cloudy weather in the morning. Nevermind, we can still enjoy this lonely balloon trip of our own by flying it into this pretty sunset. Photo location: Cappadocia, Turkey. “Cows And Kites”. I was driving along the beach highway when i noticed the bulls sunbathing on the empty beach. I initially thought i was seeing things, but no it really was sunbathing cows!! I had to park my car a fair distance away and that meant a long walk along the beach in 35 degree heat. Photo location: Tarifa Beach, Andalucia, Spain. I had to park my car a fair distance away and that meant a long walk along the beach in 35 degree heat. It did not matter because i had to get the shot! When i got closer to them i was careful not to spook them so i crawled on my stomach on the hot sand to get a good picture of them. Mission Accomplished! It was worth the effort! “Midnight in the Land of Fire and Ice”. In November 2012 Tolbachik Volcano on Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula began erupting for the first time in 36 years. I travelled there in June 2013 to climb and photograph the volcano. While the intensity of the eruption had decreased, the volcano continued to spew fountains of lava. On this particular shoot I had climbed the volcano and spent a few hours shooting from the crater rim. Photo location: Kamchatka, Russia. “White Rocks of the Iturup island”. White Rocks have stretched for miles alongside the shore of the Prostor bay. They are formed of a very light and soft pumice, as a result of the huge volcanic eruption. This pumice is being eroded by the storms of the Okhotsk Sea, by the rains and numerous small rivers, that forms amazing shapes of the rocks. “Surreal Bay of Bengal”. This evening it rained a bit in Pondicherry, India. Later, the rain subsided, but there was persistent lightning over the sea. I wanted to make a dream-like frame where the rough sea will smooth out and I'll be able to show the drama happening in the vast sky. I set the camera at f/16 aperture and shot a few long exposure frames at 16mm. Photo location: Pondicherry, Pondicherry Union Territory, India. “Frosted Tamarack Swamp”. I had scouted out a few places for an early morning shoot in the tamarack swamps. I searched and searched until I found this scene. With the sun barely breaking through the fog rising from the melting frost, the light lit up the tamarack in front of this ditch. The ditch faded into the mist, while the frost captured the early morning rays as everything glinted like it was covered in diamonds. I absolutely fell in love with the mood that this scene created. Just a few moments later, the sun rose high in the sky and melted all the frost, causing the scene to completely change. Photo location: Mather, Wisconsin. I spent the whole previous day looking for a different point of view, since almost all pictures of this vista seem to have been taken from the same standpoint. Taken at 5.30 AM after many attempts. “A node glows in the dark...” In the last 10 years, mobile data, smart phones and social networks have forever changed our existence. Although this woman stood at the center of a jam packed train, but the warm glow from her phone tells the strangers around her that she's not really here. She manged to slip away from here, for a short moment, she's a node flickering on the social web, roaming the earth, free as a butterfly. Photo location: Ocean Park, Hong Kong.
