David and Lana Fechter have recently adopted two adorable Siberian bear cubs that were rejected by their mother at a Chicago zoo. The two nine-week-old male cubs, Lewis and Clark, are being kept in an inside closure and are being bottle fed. When the twins get bigger and more independent, they’ll be be given a large natural enclosure with ponds and ridges to live in at Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary.

James Doran has created two epic dragon sculpture. The first, perched on a dead tree, is called ‘The Wyvern in the Baobabs’ (a wyvern is a type of dragon with two legs and two wings). The other, ‘Wyvern’s Folly,’ is perched on a gazebo made from reclaimed steel and recycled water bottles.

Nottingham-based Vic Fearn & Co. has created unusual coffins in the shape of beer and whiskey bottles, the Angel of the North, guitars and in a geometric style. With its huge eyes, comical name and diminutive size, Mark R. Smith’s image of a baby Hawaiian bobtail squid can’t help but raise a smile. A curiously endearing creature, the cephalopod is just 1.5cm across, its mantle cavity bearing more than a passing resemblance to a rather natty shower cap. But it is also a beautiful example of symbiosis – nature’s version of “I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine” – for on the underside of the squid is a light organ which houses bioluminescent bacteria. The squid offers the bacteria protection and food, while the bacteria emit a glow – a handy trait that the squid uses to offset its silhouette, helping it to evade predators in the depths below.
