Israeli designer HIlla Shamia has found a way to mix “oil and water” or aluminum and wood – two materials I’ve never seen fused together. The product designer has created a novel way to meld both poured aluminum with irregular wood chunks to create modern tables and benches with a warm industrial feel. Old world and new world in one.

These heart-warming photograph show an incredible bond between a wild lioness and the men fighting to save her species. The picture show Sirga – a 110lb lioness – and her adopted pride Valentin Gruener (not pictured) and Mikkel Legarth. Incredibly she treats the two men just like she would other lions and with their help she can now hunt for prey on her own. As a cub she was driven out from a pride and rescued by German and Danish duo Valentin and Mikkel who could not stand by and watch her die. Flossis by the artist Rosalie are known far beyond the boundaries of Dьsseldorf, Germany. In this city on the Rhine, the Flossis became famous. Many buildings’ outer walls are decorated with these figures. Flossis by Rosalie come in different variants of small to large and they are popular among young and old. Flossis are made of resin and resist temperatures under -15 degrees. Below that, they should be brought to the warm inside of the building. The currently most sold Flossi, is the “type I” in red, like shown in the following illustration.
